Screen sharing
Updated over a week ago

Screen sharing is available in-meeting by selecting the tool at the bottom in the centre of the screen:

You can then choose to share Chrome Tab, Window or Entire Screen.

Troubleshooting

The first time you screen share you will need to allow Chrome to share your screen.

To do this on Mac go to System Settings > Privacy and Security and toggle Chrome on:

If you are still unable to screen share you can try the following:

• Try temporarily disabling all extensions and add-ons in Chrome and Edge to make sure they are not causing theissue.

• Disable any ad-blocking or script blocking extensions

• Don't run app windows fullscreen, as this can effect how the screen recorder/screen share software sees windows in Chrome

These are the permissions allowed for screen sharing with the most common browsers:

CHROME

  • Entire Screen

  • Application Window

  • Chrome Tab

SAFARI (13 or above)

  • Entire Screen

MICROSOFT EDGE

  • Entire Screen

  • Application Window

  • Microsoft Edge Tab

Limitations of Screen Sharing in a browser

If you are using screen share in a scenario where you need to demonstrate software, for example if you are running a training program, then you may want to show menu dropdowns in that software. Since Cloudpresenter is browser based where as Zoom is a desktop application, screenshare offerings will differ.

Cloudpresenter being browser based will not capture dropdowns when sharing a Window/Tab options. This is a browser specific behaviour rather than Cloudpresenter specific (the same can be observed with Google Meet, another browser based provider). The solution here is to share the entire screen when actively using dropdowns - this way they will be seen by your audience.
